OBD key programming during an all-keys-lost job

An all-keys-lost (AKL) job needs four things before you leave the shop: a way to get a mechanical key (decode the door or ignition with the right Original Lishi 2-in-1 and cut it), a way into the immobilizer (a PIN, a security code, timed access or a gateway bypass, depending on make), a programmer whose current vehicle list shows AKL for that year and model, and the correct blank or fob on the correct chip, frequency and board. What each of those means varies by make, and inside a make it varies by year; the tables below give the usual picture, but the rule is the same for all of them: verify with your tool's vehicle list before you quote.

Toyota and Lexus

Bladed Toyota keys (4C, 4D "D", G and H chips) are the most routine AKL in the trade: decode the ignition with the Original Lishi TOY43AT or the door with the TOY43 door/trunk tool, cut a TOY44D or TOY44H blank, then run the tool's reset or registration routine. Smart keys are where the board matters: the Lonsdor KW100 is listed for all-keys-lost and add-key use with LT20 boards such as the LT20-10-4 for 2020–2024 Toyota and Lexus and the LT20-07 for 2017–2020 Lexus, and the KW100-S bundle ships with two boards. Newer 4A smart keys (HYQ14FBN, HYQ14FBW on 2019+ Corolla) are program-only and tool coverage for AKL varies by year. Emergency blades on smart-key cars are TOY48, decoded from the door with the Original Lishi TOY48. Routines are in the Toyota programming guide.

Honda and Acura

Decode the door or ignition with the Original Lishi HO01/HON66, which reads all three locks, and cut the emergency or remote head blade. Programming is over OBD on every generation, and the chip generation decides the fob: ID46 remote head keys through about 2014, ID47 smart keys such as KR5V1X and KR5V2X from 2013, and ID4A smart keys such as KR5TP-4 from 2018 on the Accord and 2022 on the Civic, CR-V and Pilot. Ford and Lincoln

Decode with the Original Lishi HU198 on 2017+ models, or from the HU101 and H92 families on earlier cars, and cut a KEYDIY HU101 blade or an H92 transponder key. Ford PATS uses a timed security access of roughly ten minutes before the tool can erase and add keys, and many older PATS systems require two keys to be programmed to close the erase routine, so bring two blanks. Check frequency before ordering: 5-button PEPS smart keys such as M3N-A2C31243300 and M3N-A2C93142600 are 902 MHz while the 3- and 4-button keys are 315. GM

GM AKL splits at the platform. PK3 and PK3+ vehicles (B99, B111 and B120 blanks) use the onboard relearn: three ten-minute cycles with the new key in the ignition, no tool required beyond the cut key; decode with the Original Lishi B111 or GM39/B102. HU100 vehicles and 2010+ smart keys go over OBD; decode with the Original Lishi HU100. Some 2020+ Global B vehicles restrict OBD key writes to authorised access, so confirm the year. Stellantis: Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Fiat

Every Stellantis AKL needs the 4-digit PIN, which most programmers calculate or retrieve, and every 2018+ vehicle needs a Security Gateway bypass cable or authorised gateway unlock before the tool can write. Fobiks and smart keys are 433 MHz, with ID46 through the mid-2010s and 4A on 2013+ Ram and Jeep Cherokee fobiks and on 2018+ Wrangler, Pacifica and Ram smart keys. Bladed fobik cars use the Y164 ID46 blank for the emergency key. Routines are in the Jeep and Dodge/Ram guides.

Nissan and Infiniti

Nissan requires a PIN converted from the BCM code, which tools read over OBD on most 2003+ vehicles. Decode with the Original Lishi NSN14 (or NSN11 on older cars), cut the NI01/NI02/NI04 46-chip blank or the NI07 4A blank, and register over OBD. Smart keys jump from ID46 (CWTWB1U808, CWTWB1U840) to ID47 (KR5S180144014 on 2013–2016) to ID4A (KR5S180144106, KR5TXN3, KR5TXN4 on 2014+), and band changes by model, so match the FCC ID. Hyundai and Kia

Both need a PIN derived from the VIN, which tools calculate for most years. No HY15 Lishi is currently listed, so decode from the lock or use the KEYDIY HY15 and HYN17 blades in a universal flip once you have the bitting. Smart keys run ID46 (SY5HMFNA04, SY5DMFNA04), ID47 (TQ8-FOB-4F07, 4F11, 4F19) and 8A (CQOFD00120, CQOFN00100) across 2009–2020, with 6A on the 2021+ Elantra; AKL coverage on 6A varies by tool.

Mazda, Subaru, VW/Audi and BMW

Mazda AKL is usually straightforward over OBD through the ID49 generation (WAZSKE13D01, 13D02, 13D03); decode doors with the Original Lishi MAZ24R and cut the MZ24/MZ34 blank. The 2019+ 6A keys (WAZSKE11D01) are newer and coverage varies. Subaru bladed AKL uses the G-chip B110 blank decoded with TOY43R or NSN14; smart keys use the HYQ14AHC and HYQ14AHK boards, and the Lonsdor LT20-02 and LT20-10-5 boards cover them. VW and Audi split at MQB (2015+): ID48 cars need component security data read from the immobilizer, MQB cars need online data, and both are decoded with the Original Lishi HU66. BMW AKL is the outlier: CAS and FEM/BDC systems need the ISN from the engine controller and often bench access to the body module, the Original Lishi HU92 reads the ignition and trunk, and G-chassis BDC2/BDC3 vehicles can take the Lonsdor BM3S-01 board with a supporting tool. Quote BMW as bench work unless your tool list says otherwise.

FAQ

Do I always need a PIN for all keys lost?

No. Toyota, Honda (most years), Mazda, Subaru and most GM vehicles do not, while Nissan, Hyundai/Kia and Stellantis do, and Ford substitutes a timed security access. The tool usually retrieves or calculates the PIN where one is required.

Can a universal chip be used for an AKL job?

Yes, when the vehicle's chip family is one the chip emulates and the programmer can write it; AKL is a programming job, not a clone, so the tool's AKL support matters more than the chip brand.

What is different about Toyota smart-key AKL?

Toyota smart keys are board-specific and lock to the vehicle, so AKL needs a new board that matches the vehicle (LT20 series or the exact FCC ID and board) and a tool or KW100 routine that supports AKL for that year. Bladed Toyota keys are much simpler.

Why does a 2019 Ram fail AKL when the tool connects fine?

The 2018+ Security Gateway blocks the write. Fit an SGW bypass cable or use the tool's authorised unlock, then run the routine with the PIN.

Can I do BMW all keys lost over OBD?

Sometimes on older CAS systems; FEM and BDC systems usually need the body module on the bench or the ISN read from the engine controller. Treat BMW AKL as a bench job unless your tool's list confirms OBD support for that chassis.
