A keyless entry remote is the stand-alone fob that locks and unlocks the vehicle and, depending on the model, opens the trunk, sounds the panic alarm or starts the engine remotely. It has no blade, and on most vehicles it plays no part in the immobiliser — the vehicle is still started with its own key.

Programming varies more than with any other type. Some vehicles accept a new remote through an on-board sequence using the doors, locks and ignition; others need a key programmer through the OBD port. Check the procedure for the exact vehicle before quoting the job.

The FCC ID alone is not always enough. The same FCC ID can be issued across several part numbers with different button layouts or frequencies, so match the part number, the frequency and the buttons as well. If the customer's remote is missing or unreadable, the vehicle year, model and trim narrow it down, and the listing details below confirm the match.
