Pick the lock and read the cuts in one operation, then cut a working key first time. Every keyway we stock is below, and every one has its own page listing the vehicles it covers, the lock positions it actually works, and the key blanks it cross-references.
Where these specifications come from
Lock positions, cut counts and vehicle years on these pages are taken from the manufacturer's own published data where it exists, and from established distributors where it does not — and each keyway page says which. Where sources disagree we tell you they disagree and ask you to call, rather than picking one and sounding certain. If you find something here that is wrong on your bench, tell us and we will fix it the same day.
Automotive picks & decoders
Ordered by how often the lock turns up on a Canadian board, not alphabetically.
The Lexus tool. Four-track, quad lifter, for the high-security Lexus keyway.
Ignition, door and trunk.
These locks have to be picked before they will decode. Some other Lishi tools decode a lock you have not opened; this one does not.
Subaru's modern keyway, plus the Colorado/Canyon twins. The best-documented tool in the range.
Door and trunk. A separate TOY43R tool covers the ignition.
For 10-cut locks WITH split wafers. The plain TOY43 is an 8-cut split-wafer tool and the TOY43AT is a 10-cut twin-lifter tool — three similar names, three different locks.
The GM truck tool — Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Yukon, Suburban, Express, Savana.
Ignition, door and trunk.
Not to be confused with the GM39/B102, which distributors also describe as "GM 10-cut". GM39 is a flat wafer keyway; this is a two-track internal. Same cut count, unrelated locks.
The GM Z-keyway warded tool — the older GM board, doors and trunks.
Door and trunk. Not ignition.
Warded and non-warded GM Z locks take different wafer positions — warded usually 3–10, non-warded 4–10. Field test: if an MZ31/X249 key enters the keyway, the lock is non-warded.
The GM 10-cut flat wafer tool — the mid-2000s GM and Saturn board.
Door and trunk.
Some Buick Terraza and Pontiac Montana SV6 vans changed keyway mid-production — one source flags a 2005 April production split, another notes some use the GM37 instead. On those two, check the lock before you commit.
Honda and Acura, 2002 onward. Four-track, twin lifter.
Door and trunk only.
This is the 2-in-1 — door and trunk. It is the HON66 3-IN-1 that does the ignition, using an anti-twist support collar to convert. Several shops publish a URL for the 2-in-1 with the word "ignition" in it. That is a slug, not a specification.
BMW, Mini and Land Rover reader and decoder. Read the year limit before you buy.
Ignition on every listed vehicle, and the trunk. Door reading only on vehicles up to 2006.
The manufacturer is explicit: door reading works up to 2006 only. BMW changed the door wafers after that and this tool cannot read them accurately. Ignition reading is unaffected across the whole range. If the job is a post-2006 door, this is not the tool.
VW, Audi and Porsche reader and decoder — the long-running European two-track.
Ignition, door and trunk.
This is a reader and decoder, not a 2-in-1 pick. Separate HU66 pick tools exist in single-lifter, twin-lifter and third-generation 3-in-1 forms.
The modern Nissan and Infiniti 10-cut, doors and trunks.
Door and trunk. A separate NSN14 Ignition tool covers the ignition.
These locks do not need to be picked before decoding — a genuine time saver, and different from the TOY48.
The older Nissan and Infiniti 8-cut, 1982–1999.

Mazda's flat 10-cut, doors and trunks.
Door and trunk. A separate MAZ24R+ tool covers the ignition and is not anti-glare.
The classic Toyota 8-cut split wafer — Camry, Corolla, RAV4, 4Runner, Prizm.
Door and trunk. A separate TOY43 Ignition tool exists for when the door locks are damaged or the ignition has been changed.
TOY43, TOY43AT and TOY43R are three different tools. This one is the 8-cut split wafer. The TOY43AT is expressly NOT compatible with 8-cut split-wafer locks — that sentence is the boundary between them.
The Toyota and Scion ignition tool — twin lifter, 10-cut.
Ignition.
The manufacturer's own limit, and the one line worth memorising: not compatible with 8-cut locks with split wafers. Those are the plain TOY43's locks.
Ford's newer internal-track keyway — door, ignition and gate.
Door, trunk/gate and ignition.
There is also an HU198-4 / 10-cut tool for the Ford F-150 P-Series. Different tool, and the source of most of the 8-cut-versus-10-cut confusion around this keyway.
Citroën, Peugeot and Renault — NOT Hyundai or Kia, whatever the rest of the market tells you.
Door and trunk.
This is the correction that matters most on this page. A number of North American shops — including the largest Canadian one — list the VA2T as a Hyundai/Kia tool. It is not. The manufacturer's own tool list puts Hyundai and Kia on the HY, HYN and K5 series; the VA2 keyway is French. We had this wrong ourselves until 4 September 2026 and we fixed it rather than quietly matching the market.
Residential & commercial cylinder tools
Kwikset and Schlage cover most doors in this country; the BE2 covers 7-pin BEST-type interchangeable cores.
Kwikset 5-pin — the most common residential cylinder in Canada.
Door cylinders.
A left-hand KW1-L exists as a separate tool for reverse-orientation cylinders. If your cylinder is upside down relative to the tool, that is the one you want.
Kwikset 6-pin — the higher-security Kwikset cylinder.
Door cylinders.
This one rewards practice before it rewards a customer's front door. A left-hand KW5-L exists for reverse cylinders.
Schlage 5-pin — the other half of the residential board.

Sources differ on security pins: the manufacturer page says spool pins, two distributors say spool AND master pins. Plan for spool and treat master-pinned cylinders as a bonus rather than a promise.
Schlage 6-pin — commercial-grade SC keyway cylinders.

BEST 'A' keyway, 7-pin small-format interchangeable core.
SFIC cores.
A separate BE2 6-PIN tool exists. Seven-pin and six-pin cores are both common in the field and the tools are not interchangeable — count the pins before you order.

About the range
- What does a Lishi 2-in-1 pick and decoder actually do?
- It picks the lock open and reads the cuts at the same time. Instead of picking a door, driving to a machine and cutting a key by code, you decode the wafers through the keyway, write down the cuts and cut a working key first time. That is the whole economic argument for the tool: it turns a two-trip job into one.
- How many Lishi tools do I need to cover the road?
- Fewer than the catalogue suggests, because keyways span makes. In Canada a working automotive board starts with Toyota and Lexus (TOY43, TOY43AT, TOY48), GM (HU100 for the trucks, B111 and GM39 for the older board), Honda and Acura (HON66), Nissan and Infiniti (NSN14 for modern, NSN11 for pre-2000), Ford (HU198), Subaru (TOY43R) and the German two-tracks (HU66, HU92). Residential is simpler still: Kwikset KW1 and KW5, Schlage SC1 and SC4 cover most doors you will meet.
- Is the anti-glare finish worth paying for?
- Most locksmiths say yes and it is now the default on most of the range. The anti-glare finish kills the reflection off the tool face under a headlamp or a shop light, which is when you are reading the decoding marks. It changes nothing about how the tool works, and a non-anti-glare tool of the same keyway is the same tool.
- Do Lishi tools damage the lock?
- Used properly, no — that is the point of a keyway-specific tool over a rake or a jiggler. The tool indexes on the keyway's own profile, so it applies tension and lifts wafers where the lock expects it. Used impatiently on the wrong keyway, any pick can burr a wafer, which is a good reason to confirm the keyway before you start rather than after.
- What is the difference between TOY43, TOY43AT and TOY43R?
- Three different Toyota-family locks with three confusingly similar names. TOY43 is the older 8-cut split-wafer keyway, doors and trunks. TOY43AT is a 10-cut twin-lifter tool and the manufacturer states it is not compatible with 8-cut split-wafer locks. TOY43R is a 10-cut split-wafer tool covering modern Subaru along with the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon. Buying on the name alone is how a locksmith ends up with the wrong one, so each has its own page here.
- Do you sell Lishi tools for Hyundai and Kia?
- Not yet, and it is worth saying clearly because the market gets this wrong. Hyundai and Kia use the HY, HYN and K5 series. A number of North American shops list the VA2T as a Hyundai/Kia tool; it is not — VA2 is a Citroën, Peugeot and Renault keyway. We had it wrong ourselves and corrected it.
