Lincoln Key Fob Replacement: FCC IDs, Frequencies & Programming

CWTWB1U311 remotes, OUC6000022 remote head keys, M3N5WY8609 ID46 smart keys and the 902 MHz M3N-A2C fobs — matched by FCC ID and part number.

Locksmith programming a smart key fob by OBD

Lincoln key fob replacement uses Ford parts under a Lincoln badge: 1998–2011 Lincolns take the CWTWB1U311 keyless entry remote with a separate 4D60 or 4D63 transponder key, 2005–2012 models use OUC6000022 or OUCD6000022 remote head keys on a 4D63 (DST80) chip, 2009–2019 push-button models use M3N5WY8406 or M3N5WY8609 ID46 smart keys at 315 MHz, and 2014 onward moves to the two-way 902 MHz M3N-A2C31243300, M3N-A2C93142600, M3N-A2C940780 and M3N-A3C054339 fobs on an ID49 chip, with the newest Navigator on M3N-A3C108397 at 434 MHz. Match the FCC ID, the button count and the 164-R or 15K601 part number, and program by OBD with any Ford-capable tool.

Which Lincoln key generation is it?

Lincoln follows Ford's immobilizer schedule model for model. The start method, the frequency printed on the fob and the FCC ID prefix sort every Lincoln into one of five groups; verify years on the vehicle because a mid-cycle refresh can move a model up a generation.

The frequency is the fastest tell on the smart keys. A 315 MHz Lincoln fob (M3N5WY84xx / 86xx) is one-way and carries ID46; a 902 MHz fob (M3N-A2C… and M3N-A3C0…) is two-way and carries ID49. They do not cross over, whatever the shell looks like. The label inside the case prints both the FCC ID and the frequency.

Two of these need care. M3N5WY8609 exists as a 4-button and a 5-button (remote start) version with the same BT4T-15K601-HC family of part numbers; the vehicle accepts either, but the customer expects the button they had. And the 2018–2021 Navigator has its own M3N-A2C940780 fob (JL7T-15K601-BB) that is distinct from the M3N-A2C93142600 (JL1T-15K601-BB) used across the Expedition and the rest of the Lincoln range in the same years; the part number suffix is the only visible difference. The Ford M3N and N5F fob family guide sets these out by year and button count.

Aftermarket or genuine OEM for Lincoln?

Every Lincoln-fitting fob in the Car Key Source catalog is aftermarket, listed against the OEM part numbers it replaces (the 164-R Strattec numbers and the Ford 15K601 numbers). That is the right grade for the 2005–2019 remote head keys and ID46 smart keys, which are commodity parts, and it is the common choice on the 902 MHz fobs as long as the part is bought against the exact FCC ID and part number. Where a customer on a current Navigator or Aviator asks for the Lincoln-logo fob, source it through a dealer parts counter; the genuine range we do stock across other makes is on the OEM hub. The general case for each grade is in aftermarket vs genuine OEM car keys.

How Lincoln key fobs are programmed

  • Transponder keys, 1998–2015 (4D60, 4D63). With two working keys, Ford's onboard two-key procedure adds a third in about a minute with no tool; verify the specific model supports it. All-keys-lost or one-key adds are by OBD with any Ford-capable programmer, which also handles the 10-minute security wait on the older PATS systems. Cut the blade first.
  • Keyless entry remotes (CWTWB1U311). Most 1998–2011 Ford-family vehicles learn remotes onboard by cycling the ignition eight times and pressing a button on each remote to be kept; verify on the vehicle. Tools do the same by OBD.
  • ID46 smart keys (M3N5WY8406, M3N5WY8609), 2009–2019. OBD with Autel IM508/IM608, Xhorse Key Tool Plus, Lonsdor K518, Advanced Diagnostics or similar; add-a-key and all-keys-lost both supported. Place the fob in the backup slot (console or under the cup-holder mat depending on model) when the tool prompts.
  • ID49 smart keys at 902 MHz (M3N-A2C… and M3N-A3C0…), 2014–2024. Same OBD route; the 2018+ Navigator and 2020+ Aviator and Corsair can require a tool with current Ford software, and some all-keys-lost jobs on these need a security-gateway bypass or an online session depending on the year. Confirm your tool lists the exact model year before you quote.
  • M3N-A3C108397 (2023+ Navigator). Newest Ford platform at 434 MHz; coverage varies by tool and update level. Verify support before you roll.

The step-by-step tool procedures are shared with Ford; see Ford key fob programming.

Blades, keyways and universal alternatives

Lincoln uses Ford keyways throughout: H74/H86 and H92 on the older twist-ignition vehicles, H75 on the OUCD6000022 remote head key, and the HU101 high-security blade on the emergency insert of every 2009-onward smart key. The KEYDIY HU101 #38 blade fits Xhorse and KEYDIY universal flip remotes for Ford and Lincoln; entry tools for the Ford family are at the Lishi tools hub.

For shops that stock universal boards, Lonsdor's FO30 series (Ford-style, 315/433 MHz, ID46/ID47/ID4A) covers the ID46 generation, and the FO3H series (868/902 MHz, ID46/ID49) is the one for the two-way 902 MHz Lincoln fobs; Xhorse's XSFO02EN and KEYDIY's ZB12-4 and ZB21-5 are Ford-style proximity remotes for their own tools.

FAQ

Are Lincoln and Ford key fobs interchangeable?

Same-generation fobs usually are, because Lincoln uses Ford boards: the M3N5WY8609 covers the MKS, MKT, MKX and Navigator alongside the Edge, Escape, Expedition, Explorer, Flex, Focus and Taurus, and the M3N-A2C93142600 covers the Navigator, Nautilus, Corsair and Aviator alongside the Expedition and Explorer. Match the FCC ID, frequency, button count and part number rather than the badge.

What frequency is a Lincoln key fob?

315 MHz on the 1998–2019 remotes, remote head keys and ID46 smart keys; 902 MHz two-way on the 2014–2024 ID49 smart keys (M3N-A2C31243300, M3N-A2C93142600, M3N-A2C940780, M3N-A3C054339); and 434 MHz on the newest M3N-A3C108397 Navigator fob. The frequency is printed on the fob label with the FCC ID.

Which Lincoln Navigator fob do I need?

By year: OUC6000022 or OUCD6000022 remote head key for 2005–2012, M3N5WY8609 for 2013–2017 (verify), M3N-A2C940780 (JL7T-15K601-BB) for the 2018–2021 Navigator, M3N-A2C93142600 or M3N-A3C054339 for 2022–2024 depending on trim, and M3N-A3C108397 from 2023 onward. Check the part number on the customer's remaining fob if there is one.

Can I program a Lincoln smart key without going to the dealer?

Yes. The ID46 and ID49 Lincoln smart keys program by OBD on Autel, Xhorse, Lonsdor and other Ford-capable tools for add-a-key and all-keys-lost. The newest 2020+ Aviator, Corsair and Navigator models may need current tool software or an online session for all-keys-lost, so confirm coverage for the exact year first.

Which key blade does a Lincoln smart key use?

The emergency insert in every 2009-onward Lincoln smart key is the Ford HU101 high-security blade; the KEYDIY HU101 #38 blade fits universal flip remotes for the same vehicles. Older twist-ignition Lincolns use the H74/H86, H92 and H75 profiles.
