Acura Key Fob Replacement: FCC IDs, 72147 Part Numbers & Programming

KR5434760, KR5V2X, KR5T21 and KR5BTP smart keys, ID46 remote head and flip keys, Driver 1 vs Driver 2, and OBD programming.

Car Key Source Trade DeskSeptember 12, 2026 8 min read
Acura proximity smart key fob

Acura key fob replacement follows Honda's hardware almost exactly: 2006–2014 vehicles use ID46 remote head keys and flip keys (N5F-S0084A, MLBHLIK-1T, N5F0602A1A), 2009–2015 smart keys are KR5434760 on ID46, 2018–2021 smart keys are KR5V2X on ID47 at 434 MHz, 2019–2023 RDX and TLX use KR5T21 on ID47 at 433 MHz, and the 2022+ Integra moves to KR5BTP at 433 MHz. The 72147 part number suffix (TX6, TX4, TZ3, TJB, TGV, 3S5) identifies the exact board, and on the RDX and TLX a Driver 1 or Driver 2 fob is tied to the memory seat, so match that too. Everything programs by OBD without a dealer code; Car Key Source stocks genuine OEM KR5T21 and KR5BTP fobs alongside aftermarket options.

Which Acura key generation is it?

Acura tracks Honda's immobilizer changes with a one-to-two-year lag on some models. The start method and the FCC ID prefix tell you most of what you need; the 72147 suffix does the rest. Verify years on the vehicle, since a mid-cycle refresh can move a model to the next fob.

2022–20255-button smart remote— (new platform)KR5BTPIntegra; 433 MHz; 72147-3S5

The frequency jump matters. Acura's ID46 generation runs at 314–315 MHz; the ID47 generation and the 2022+ Integra at 433–434 MHz. A fob from the wrong band will fail at the remote step even when the transponder programs, so read the label inside the case, not just the shape of the shell.

Reading the suffix: the letters after 72147- identify the model platform (TX6 = ILX/TL/ZDX era, TX4 = RDX, TZ3 = TLX/ILX, TJB = RDX, TGV = TLX, 3S5 = Integra) and the trailing A01/A11 or A01/A110 pair splits Driver 1 from Driver 2. Our Honda 72147 part numbers guide covers the whole family across both brands.

Driver 1 and Driver 2: why Acura sells two of the same fob

On the RDX (2019+) and TLX (2021+), the vehicle links each fob to a memory-seat profile. The Driver 1 fob and the Driver 2 fob carry the same FCC ID and the same chip; they differ in the identity byte the car reads to recall seat, mirror and climate settings, and the shell is usually marked 1 or 2. Both program the same way. The practical points: a customer who lost the Driver 2 fob wants a Driver 2 replacement or their seat memory swaps, and if you only stock one, Driver 1 is the one that is missing more often. Where the original is unknown, ask which position the seat moves to when the surviving fob unlocks the car.

Aftermarket or genuine OEM for Acura?

Genuine OEM Acura smart keys are the right call on the current-generation vehicles, where the customer bought a premium car and expects the Acura-logo fob back, and where Driver 1 / Driver 2 identity has to be right. Car Key Source stocks genuine OEM KR5T21 fobs for the 2019–2020 RDX (both drivers) and 2021–2023 TLX (both drivers), and the genuine OEM KR5BTP 5-button remote for the 2022–2025 Integra. The full range is on the OEM hub.

Aftermarket makes sense on the 2006–2015 ID46 generation, where the remote head keys and flip keys are commodity parts, and on the KR5V2X ILX/TLX where an aftermarket fob programs the same way and the price gap is wider. For the trade-off in general, see aftermarket vs genuine OEM car keys.

How Acura key fobs are programmed

  • ID46 remote head and flip keys (2006–2014). OBD with Autel IM508/IM608, Xhorse Key Tool Plus, Lonsdor K518, Advanced Diagnostics or similar; add-a-key and all-keys-lost both by OBD with no PIN. Remote functions on many of these vehicles can also be learned onboard by the Honda ignition-cycle procedure; verify by model, and program the transponder first.
  • KR5434760 smart keys (2009–2015). OBD, add-a-key or all-keys-lost. Keep the fob touching the start button when the tool asks.
  • KR5V2X and KR5T21 smart keys (2018–2023). OBD on the same tools. All-keys-lost is supported; the vehicle needs a stable 12 V supply through the write. Use the correct frequency version (434 MHz for KR5V2X, 433 MHz for KR5T21).
  • KR5BTP (2022+ Integra). Newer Honda-family platform at 433 MHz. Tool coverage arrived later than for the TLX and RDX; confirm your programmer lists the Integra by year before you quote all-keys-lost, and prefer the genuine OEM fob to remove the part from the list of variables.
  • Universal alternatives. The KEYDIY ZB10-5 is a Honda/Acura-style 5-button proximity remote generated with KEYDIY tools, and Lonsdor's HD30 series boards cover ID46/ID47/ID4A Honda-family smart keys with adjustable frequency. Useful for shops that prefer to stock one board over five fobs.

The Honda-side procedure detail is in Honda key fob programming, and it applies to Acura of the same generation.

Entry, blades and keyways

Acura shares Honda's HON66 / HO01 high-security keyway from the mid-2000s onward, which covers the ignition on twist-start vehicles and the emergency blade cylinder on smart-key vehicles. The Original Lishi HO01/HON66 2-in-1 picks and decodes the ignition, door and trunk. Pre-2003 vehicles use the older HD103 profile, for which KEYDIY supplies a 10-pack of flip-key blades for universal remotes. See the Lishi tools hub.

FAQ

Do Honda and Acura key fobs interchange?

Same-generation parts often share a board: the MLBHLIK-1T remote head key is listed for the Acura TL, TSX and ZDX and for the Honda Fit, CR-V and Accord coupe, and the N5F-S0084A covers the MDX and the Civic. Smart keys are model-specific by 72147 part number, so do not assume a Honda KR5V2X will program to an Acura TLX; match the suffix.

What is the difference between a Driver 1 and Driver 2 Acura fob?

Same FCC ID and chip, different identity for the memory-seat system. A 72147-TJB-A01 is the RDX Driver 1 fob and a 72147-TJB-A11 is Driver 2; on the TLX the pair is 72147-TGV-A01 and 72147-TGV-A110. Replace like with like or the customer's seat memory will swap.

Does an Acura smart key need a PIN to program?

No. Honda-family vehicles, including Acura, program by OBD without a security code on Autel, Xhorse, Lonsdor and similar tools, for both add-a-key and all-keys-lost.

What frequency is an Acura key fob?

314–315 MHz for the ID46 generation (2006–2015), 433–434 MHz for the ID47 generation (KR5V2X and KR5T21, 2018–2023), and 433 MHz for the 2022+ Integra KR5BTP. The band is printed with the FCC ID on the fob label.

Which Lishi tool fits an Acura?

The Original Lishi HO01/HON66 covers the Honda and Acura high-security ignition, door and trunk from the mid-2000s onward, including the emergency-blade cylinder on smart-key vehicles.
