Why the FCC ID Alone Isn't Always Enough
The FCC ID guarantees the radio hardware is legal on the same frequency — it does not guarantee the fob will pair with a specific car. KR5V2X is the classic example: it spans multiple board versions across different models and years, and a Civic board will not necessarily program to an Odyssey even though the label matches. Button count and layout matter too — a five-button Odyssey fob with power-door buttons is a different part than a four-button CR-V fob under the same ID.

Programming: What It Actually Takes
