Cadillac & Buick Key Fob Replacement: FCC IDs & Programming

OUC60270 remotes, NBG009768T and HYQ2AB smart keys, Buick OHT01060512 and HYQ4EA, the 2021+ Escalade, and how GM fobs program.

Cadillac and Buick key fob replacement splits into three families: keyless entry remotes that pair to a separate transponder key (OUC60270 and OUC6000066 on 2006–2017 sedans and the Escalade), first-generation ID46 smart keys at 315 MHz (M3N5WY7777A for the CTS/STS, NBG009768T for the SRX/ATS/XTS, HYQ2AB for the 2015–2020 Escalade, OHT01060512 flip-key PEPS on Buick), and 433/434 MHz smart keys from about 2017 onward (HYQ4EA on the LaCrosse, HYQ4ES on the Encore GX, YG0G20TB1 with an ID49 chip on the 2021+ Escalade). All of them program by OBD with a mainstream tool; the older remotes also learn onboard on many models. Car Key Source stocks aftermarket versions of every family above plus a genuine OEM Buick Encore GX fob.

Which Cadillac or Buick key system is it?

GM ran several immobilizer and remote systems in parallel across its brands, so the same model year can mean very different parts depending on the platform. Sort the vehicle by how it starts and what the customer hands you, then verify on the vehicle where the years overlap.

The GM part number, not the FCC ID, is what ties a remote to a vehicle. OUC60270 alone covers a 4-button sedan remote, a 5-button remote-start version and a 6-button SUV remote with hatch and glass; the numbers (5922032, 15913427, 22951510 and so on) pick between them. Our GM OUC remote family guide walks the list.

Remote-only or smart key: what the vehicle actually needs

On the 2006–2017 body-on-frame Escalade and the Lucerne/DTS sedans, the customer has two separate items: a transponder key (ID46 on a B111 or B119 blade, or Megamos 13 on the older B99 and B107 blades) and a keyless entry remote. Replacing a lost "fob" on these means cutting and programming the key and pairing the remote as two jobs. Do not sell a smart key to these vehicles; they cannot use one.

From the 2008 CTS onward, the vehicles with push-button start use a single smart key that carries both functions. The 2010–2020 Buick OHT01060512 is the odd one out: a flip key with a mechanical blade that also works as a proximity fob (PEPS) on the push-button versions of the LaCrosse, Regal and Verano, and as a plain remote flip key on the twist-ignition trims. Same FCC ID, same part; the vehicle decides how much of it is used.

Aftermarket or genuine OEM for Cadillac and Buick?

Almost all of the Cadillac and Buick range at Car Key Source is aftermarket, and for the OUC60270 remotes, the ID46 smart keys and the HYQ4EA fob that is the sensible grade: these are high-volume parts where an aftermarket unit that programs on the first attempt does the job. The one genuine OEM row is the 2021–2023 Buick Encore GX 4-button HYQ4ES (13530513), which we stock as a genuine OEM Buick part; the wider genuine range is on the OEM hub. See aftermarket vs genuine OEM car keys for the general call.

How Cadillac and Buick key fobs are programmed

  • Keyless entry remotes (OUC60270, OUC6000066). Many 2006–2014 GM sedans and SUVs learn remotes onboard through the Driver Information Center "Remote Key Fob Programming" or "Relearn Remote Key" menu; the exact route varies by model and trim, so verify on the vehicle. Where there is no onboard menu, any GM-capable tool pairs the remote by OBD in a minute or two.
  • Transponder keys (B111, B119, B99, B107). GM's onboard 30-minute relearn (three 10-minute cycles) still works for all-keys-lost on PK3 and PK3+ vehicles and on many ID46 GM keys; a tool does the same job faster and is the only route where the vehicle does not support the timed relearn. Cut the blade before you start either.
  • ID46 smart keys (M3N5WY7777A, NBG009768T, HYQ2AB, HYQ4EA, OHT01060512). OBD with Autel IM508/IM608, Xhorse Key Tool Plus, Lonsdor K518 or similar; add-a-key and all-keys-lost are both supported. Put the fob in the transmitter pocket (glovebox, console or cup holder depending on model) when the tool prompts, and keep a stable 12 V supply through the write.
  • 2021+ Escalade (YG0G20TB1) and 2021+ Encore GX (HYQ4ES). These ride on GM's newer electrical architecture, and tool support for all-keys-lost arrived later than for the 2015–2020 vehicles and in some cases needs an online session. Confirm your programmer lists the exact model year for the job type before you quote.

The step-by-step tool procedures for GM are the same across brands; see Chevrolet key fob programming.

Entry, blades and universal alternatives

Cadillac and Buick share GM keyways: the B111 Z-keyway on most 2005–2017 vehicles, the B119 (10-cut, HU100-style) on 2010–2018 vehicles, and the older B99/B102 10-cut on the 1990s–2000s sedans. The Original Lishi B111 (door and trunk), HU100 (ignition, door and trunk) and GM39/B102 cover them; the full set is at the Lishi tools hub.

For shops that prefer universal remotes, KEYDIY offers Cadillac-style 5-button proximity remotes (ZB05-5 and ZB07-5) and a Buick-style 4-button ZB22-4, all with an integrated ID46 chip and generated on KEYDIY tools, and Lonsdor's CL30-01 Chevrolet-style 4-button smart key carries ID46, ID49 and ID4A with adjustable frequency. They do not replace the OUC60270 keyless-entry remotes, which are not proximity fobs, but they are a practical stock item for the 2008–2020 ID46 smart-key vehicles.

FAQ

Is a Cadillac OUC60270 remote the same as a Chevrolet one?

Same FCC ID and same radio, but the GM part number decides the button layout and the vehicle list. A 4-button 5922032 fits the Lucerne, DTS, Impala and Equinox; the 6-button 15913427 fits the Escalade, Tahoe, Suburban and Yukon. Match the part number and button count, and the brand on the shell does not matter.

Can I program a Cadillac Escalade smart key without a dealer?

Yes. The 2015–2020 HYQ2AB programs by OBD on Autel, Xhorse, Lonsdor and similar tools for add-a-key and all-keys-lost. The 2021+ YG0G20TB1 is on GM's newer architecture; support exists on current tool software but confirm the model year and job type are listed before you quote.

Which Cadillac smart keys use the ID46 chip?

M3N5WY7777A (CTS/STS), NBG009768T (SRX/ATS/XTS/ELR), HYQ2AB (2015–2020 Escalade) and the Buick HYQ4EA and OHT01060512 all carry ID46 variants. The 2021+ Escalade YG0G20TB1 moves to ID49 (HITAG Pro).

Why are there two NBG009768T Cadillac fobs?

The 2010–2015 SRX/ATS/XTS version has a large trunk button and the 2013–2015 ATS/XTS/ELR version has a small one, with different GM part numbers (22865375 versus 22856930). Buy by part number and button shape.

Does the 2010–2020 Buick flip key work as a proximity key?

On push-button-start LaCrosse, Regal and Verano trims the OHT01060512 flip key works as a PEPS proximity fob; on twist-ignition trims the same part is used as a remote flip key. One part covers both, so confirm the start type only to know which programming steps apply.
