KEYDIY ZB, NB & B Series Remotes: What Each Series Does

KEYDIY splits its universal remotes into three series. ZB remotes are smart (proximity) keys with an integrated ID46-type chip and full circuit board, generated for push-to-start vehicles. NB remotes are flip keys with an integrated chip, so one blank covers the remote and the transponder on a turn-key vehicle. B remotes are remote-only blanks with no transponder, for vehicles that keep the chip elsewhere or for jobs where you add a cloning chip yourself. All three are generated with a KEYDIY tool (KD-MAX, KD-X2, KD900 or Mini KD) for supported vehicles, then programmed to the car; check the tool's vehicle list before quoting. Flip-key blades and cloning chips are sold separately in packs of ten.

The three KEYDIY series at a glance

The number after the series letters is the shell style, and the number after the dash is the button count. ZB22-4 is the ZB shell style 22 (Buick/GM look) with 4 buttons; NB12-4 is the NB Ford-style shell with 4 buttons; B13-2+1 is the Toyota-style B remote with two buttons plus a panic button. The shell name describes the look, not the vehicle list. A Ford-style ZB can be generated for a non-Ford vehicle if the tool supports that vehicle in that remote type.

ZB series: smart keys with proximity

ZB remotes are complete proximity keys. The board carries the RF transmitter, the proximity antenna and an integrated 46-type transponder, and the KEYDIY tool generates the whole package as the vehicle's key type. After generation you program it to the vehicle the same way as any other smart key, then cut the emergency blade. Batteries are CR2032 and not included.

The TB01-04 is the exception in the smart-key list: it carries an 8A transponder rather than the 46-type, because Toyota and Lexus smart-key systems use the 8A family. NB series: flip keys with the chip built in

An NB remote is a flip key with the transponder already on the board. When the tool generates the remote it also sets the chip, so on a turn-key vehicle the one blank handles both remote and immobiliser. You still cut a blade for it; NB shells take the same replaceable flip blades as the B series and the Xhorse flip remotes.

B series: remote only, no chip

B remotes are the cheapest KEYDIY blanks because they carry no transponder. Use them when the vehicle's immobiliser is satisfied elsewhere (a remote-only keyless entry fob, or a customer who is keeping their chipped key and only wants a working remote), or when you plan to fit a cloning chip yourself after cloning the customer's original on the KD-X2 or KD-MAX.

KD-MAX: the generator

The KD-MAX is KEYDIY's all-in-one key tool and remote generator. KD-X2 cloning chips

KEYDIY cloning chips are blank transponders that the KD-X2 (and KD-MAX) writes with a copy of the customer's original chip. Cloning sidesteps OBD programming on vehicles that allow it and is the usual route for a spare key on older turn-key cars. Each pack is ten chips.

Blade packs: which profile for which make

KEYDIY flip blades are sold uncut in packs of ten and fit both KEYDIY and Xhorse universal flip remotes. Match the profile to the vehicle's keyway, not the remote's shell style.
